Erie Travel Poster

This poster is a continuation of my travel poster series. The city featured in this poster is my hometown, Erie.

Since I graduated college, I have had a lot of time to think about what the future hold for me. I don’t know what life will look like in a few years, but I know one thing is for sures. I will always love my hometown of Erie, PA. I know a lot of people overlook this city, so I wanted to make a travel poster to showcase what makes it so special to me.

Inspiration

A lot of my inspiration for this project was based on my experiences in Erie. My dad always took our family out on the boat during the summer. He and my brother would fish for walleye, while my mom and I would relax at the bow. When it was time to wrap up, we would watch the sunset on the lake. These memories are what I wanted to highlight the most in the poster. It may break the theming of the previous posters I made, but I knew I had to include a sunset in this poster.

Another thing I wanted to incorporate into the poster was the new branding for Visit Erie. Since a lot of outsiders would get their information about the city from Visit Erie, I knew I had to incorporate that into the theming of the poster. I was able to find the typeface used for the logo and the color scheme through their branding guidelines.
