Giant Eagle DoorDash Display
Marketing material made to promote Giant Eagle’s DoorDash floral service during Valentine’s Day
As I am writing this, Giant Eagle is currently my full-time workplace. I work in multiple departments there and provide assistance to other departments when needed. My main position is a floral associate. Last year was our first year with the DoorDash system in place, and it was shown to be an incredibly popular service during Valentine’s Day. The main problem was the Dashers would flood the floral counter to pick up their orders, making the regular customers wait longer to cash out. This year, my store manager and team lead commissioned me to make marketing material for our Valentine’s Day DoorDash station, to help the Dashers acquire their orders efficiently.
Research
I asked my team lead multiple questions regarding the location of the DoorDash station. She gave me a rough estimate of where it would be set up around the customer service desk. One thing I had to keep in mind was that the signs had to be flexible, in case the team decides to change where the station is last minute. I took pictures of roughly where the display would be located. I then began sketching thumbnails on what the signs could look like.
Mood Board
After my research, I created a mood board to help me envision the look of the poster. I wanted to combine both the Giant Eagle and DoorDash branding.
First Drafts
For the first draft of the double sign display, I photographed some of the product we had in our department. This varied from alstroemeria bunches to rose pedals I plucked from our fun bunch bouquets. I arranged them on the edge of both signs. The rose pedals connect to each other whichever way the arrow faces, connecting the two as a singular message. I made a few mockups to show how no matter what way the signs are oriented, they are always connected.
As for the banner, I wanted the text to be prioritized instead of visuals. I didn’t include the flower imagery to avoid cluttering the text.
Final Designs
The final design for the cards encapsulates how Maddi wants to take her career as a reporter. She someone who wants to stand by the people of her city, whether they are a political worker or a small pigeon caretaker. She is fond of where she grew up but is ready to start a new chapter in her life.
